Arun Vijay is a Director in the Actuarial team and a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries. He supports insurers and other financial services clients on complex actuarial, financial reporting and transformation challenges, drawing on over 15 years’ experience in the Big Four and in senior roles at leading insurers.
He specialises in reserving across personal, commercial and speciality lines, with deep expertise in IFRS 17 and Solvency II. He has led audit and assurance engagements for insurers, reinsurers and Lloyd’s syndicates, presenting findings to Boards and Audit Committees. In addition, he advises on pricing, model validation and actuarial transformation, supporting clients through complex change programmes, strengthening alignment between actuarial processes and financial reporting. He takes a hands-on approach to helping clients navigate evolving regulatory requirements, ensuring actuarial judgements are robust, well governed and able to withstand scrutiny from auditors and regulators. Equally, he is focused on delivering high value business insights and favourable business outcomes for his clients.
Alongside his client work, Arun is Chair of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries’ Optimal Reserving Working Party, contributes to working parties on artificial intelligence and model validation, and is a member of the General Insurance Lifelong Learning Committee. He has a strong interest in the responsible and effective use of artificial intelligence in insurance.
