Paul is a Director in the Actuarial team and a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries. He holds both the Chief Actuary (Non-Life with Lloyd’s) and Lloyd’s Syndicate Actuary Practising Certificates.
Based in London, Paul has more than 20 years of actuarial experience gained across both consulting and in-house environments, including a recent role at a major global (re)insurance company. He has extensive expertise in reserving, covering major catastrophe and complex loss events, business planning and loss ratio calibration, executive reserve reporting, and actuarial transformation programmes.
Throughout his career, Paul has designed and led strategic development initiatives, governance committees, and large-scale business-as-usual delivery programmes. He regularly presents complex actuarial and business issues to Boards and senior management teams, helping organisations translate technical insights into effective decision-making and strategy.
Paul is a four-time presenter at GIRO, the UK’s leading general insurance actuarial conference, where he has spoken on topics including inflation and cyber risk. He also previously served as Chair of the Developing Your Reserving Team working party.
Known for combining strong technical expertise with a practical and collaborative approach, Paul excels at translating complex concepts into actionable business insights. His in-house experience provides a deep understanding of insurer operations, commercial decision-making, and the challenges faced by client organisations. He is a strong advocate for the intelligent use of technology, believing that when applied by the right experts, innovation can improve business outcomes while remaining robust under auditor and regulatory scrutiny.
