Mark Ellis is a Partner in our VAT and Indirect Taxes team.
He has over 34 years’ experience, 20 of which gained at Big 4 firms and 6 of which at Top 6 firms. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Tax (CIOT), achieving the highest score in the UK on one of his three CIOT VAT entrance exam papers.
Mark has experience of many business sectors, types of transactions and situations that give rise to VAT uncertainties and has advised individuals and businesses of all sizes, whether not-for-profit, private businesses or listed businesses.
He has helped many businesses to understand their VAT accounting position and has devised several different ways in which to quickly obtain HMRC written VAT rulings that will satisfy auditors/due diligence providers. Mark provides practical and commercial solutions to his clients, and has a long track-record of negotiating successfully with HMRC to generate VAT savings quickly for his clients and/or minimise VAT costs caused by errors.
